Lessons and Carols
The Choirs of Southern Virginia University will join together to present the Annual Lessons and Carols service at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lexington, Virginia. This beloved holiday tradition features festive choral music and readings celebrating the Christmas season. Under the direction of Benjamin Gaughran, the program will include performances by the Chamber Singers, Men’s Chorus, and the Combined SVU Choirs.
VMEA Professional Development Conference
Benjamin looks forward to attending the Virginia Music Educators Association’s Annual Conference and connecting with music educators from across the Commonwealth. As Director of Choral Activities at Southern Virginia University, he is eager to share more about the exciting opportunities within SVU’s vibrant music program and to explore ways to support and collaborate with Virginia’s outstanding school music programs. He hopes to see you there!

W&L Concerto-Aria Competition
Benjamin is honored to serve on the jury for Washington and Lee University’s Concerto-Aria Competition.
This annual event showcases outstanding student musicians in a celebration of artistry, skill, and dedication. Benjamin looks forward to hearing the remarkable talent from Washington and Lee and the surrounding community, and to supporting the next generation of performers. Earth to Heaven
Experience Earth to Heaven, a luminous concert with the SVU Chamber Singers conducted by Benjamin Gaughran. This program weaves together music of grounding and uplift—from Powell and Hagen to Mozart, Brahms, and beyond—drawing listeners on a journey from earth to sky. Set in the stunning Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, the evening promises beauty, inspiration, and connection.
Halloween on the Hill
Southern Virginia University Music Presents ‘Halloween on the Hill’. An annual celebration of music, film, and surprises. Join Benjamin as he conducts the Men’s Chorus and Chamber Singers in some spooky music!
Choral Evensong
Come and join Ben as he conducts Choral Evensong at Grace Episcopal Church in Lexington, Virginia. Music for the service will span centuries and oceans, from the Renaissance to the Elizabethan era to contemporary music by Joanna Forbes L’Estrange and Arlen Clarke. It promises to be an uplifting evening.
Men's Chorus & Bella Voce present: HOPE
In a world often marked by division and despair, the Men’s Chorus and Bella Voce at Southern Virginia University invite you to join us as we unite in song to celebrate the much-needed virtue of Hope. Under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Gaughran and Dr. Mackenzi Romriell, this concert is dedicated to the members of the Grand Blanc, Michigan Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their community. SVU Chamber Singers Season Preview Concert: The Light Within
Celebrate Benjamin Gaughran’s inaugural concert at Southern Virginia University with the SVU Chamber Singers. Centered on the season’s theme, The Light Within, this preview program offers a journey from the timeless lines of Palestrina to the vibrant sounds of William Dawson. Set in an intimate concert setting, the evening promises inspiration, beauty, and joy in song.
University of Michigan Men's Glee Club Spring Tour
Join Dr. Benjamin Gaughran and Dr. Mike Mitchell on the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club Spring Tour 2025.
The club will perform throughout the East coast including: Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Scituate, Boston and New York City. Benjamin will sing and conduct in every concert and he will conduct the entire concert in New York City.
Music, Lead the Way!
Join Benjamin in his farewell concert with the Women’s Chamber Chorus, Ann Arbor. The concert brings together some of the favorite pieces the chorus have performed under Benjamin’s direction. It promises to be a night of fun and good music.
Beneath Sound
Join Benjamin as he sings and conducts his final concert with the Orpheus Singers at The University of Michigan.
The concert celebrates the many facets of vocal music and the human experience. Themes of beauty, love and joy are explored through various contemporary works including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ iconic Serenade to Music, conducted by Benjamin Gaughran, and Alex Berko’s thought provoking new work You Through Me. Other works by Dale Trombore, Kat Gimon and Ola Gjello make this a sublime evening of beautful vocal chamber music conducted by the graduate choral conducting studio.

LUX: The Dawn from on High
In his final special music at the First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor, director of music Dr. Benjamin Gaughran leads the Chancel Choir and Ensemble in Dan Forrest’s ‘LUX: The Dawn from on High’. Celebrating themes of light and hope, this music is the perfect fit for the Easter season.
Men's Glee Club Annual Spring Hill Concert

Let Your Love Be Brave

In their final concert of the 2024-2025 season, the Lima Symphony Chorus, prepared by Dr. Benjamin Gaughran, join forces with the Lima Symphony Orchestra to perform a concert of American music. Maestro Crust will lead the forces through a thrilling night of music.

The Detroit Spirituals Festival
Benjamin joins the Central Region Conference of the National Association of Negro Musicians, Inc. (NANM), as an adjudicator in the Detroit Spirituals Festival Competition.
NANM is a distinguished organization founded in 1919 with a long-standing commitment to the preservation and promotion of African American music. This event will provide a valuable opportunity for participants to engage with the rich tradition of Spirituals and celebrate the artistry of this vital musical genre.
Choral Clinics: South Lyon
Dr. Benjamin Gaughran will spend the day in South Lyon, Michigan working with choirs from South Lyon East High School and South Lyon High School.
Scenes from the Life of a Martyr
Join Benjamin as he sings with the combined choirs from the School of Music, Theatre and Dance (SMTD) at the University of Michigan (U-M). For this concert, Benjamin served as the concert master in preparing the Orpheus Singers and the University Singers. Benjamin is also the cover conductor for the concert.
Remembering the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and commemorating the 45th anniversary of the completion of the full orchestra version of Undine Smith Moore’s magnum opus, the U-M SMTD Choirs and University Symphony Orchestra perform her powerful oratorio Scenes from the Life of a Martyr with Maurice Duruflé’s iconic Requiem, op. 9.

Mass: A Celebration of Love and Joy
In honor of Black History Month, the Chancel Choir from the First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor present André J. Thomas’ mass during the 10am worship service. Under the direction of Director of Music, Benjamin Gaughran, this promises to be an uplifting worship service. All are welcome!
High School Clinic: Grosse Point South High School
Benjamin will work with the South Singers and the Pointe Singers in helping prepare them for participation in the upcoming Michigan Schools Vocal Music Association Festival.
Men's Vocal Arts Day
Join Benjamin as he leads the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club and high schools from around the state of Michigan in a day of singing, camaraderie, and musical excellence! The day culminates in a concert in the Historic Hill Auditorium at 3pm.
Magnificat
Benjamin lead the Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra of The First Congregational Church of Ann Arbor in their Advent Special Music. Presenting Michael John Trotta’s wonderful work, Magnificat, it is sure to be an event to get you into the Christmas Spirit.
LINEAGE
Join Benjamin as he conducts the University of Michigan’s Orpheus Singers in their final concert of the semester. Celebrating the lineage connections between Brahms, Haydn, Bach and Buxtehude, Benjamin will lead the ensemble in a performance of Johannes Brahms’ opus 31.

O Radiant Dawn
The University Choir and Chamber Choir from The University of Michigan share the stage in this concert. Benjamin will conduct the Chamber Choir in Morten Lauridsen’s timeless, beautiful work O Magnum Mysterium. He will also sing with the Chamber Choir for their set of the concert.

Brahms and Water Music with The Lima Symphony Orchestra and Chorus
Benjamin makes his debut as the Chorus Director of the Lima Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in their Grand Series 2 concert. Under the direction of Maestro Andrew Crust, relish in a program for kings and queens. Benjamin will conduct the chorus and orchestra in one of Handel’s iconic Coronation Anthems.
